Do You Share What You Believe?

Read: John 12:20-33
20. Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the Feast. 21. They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, with a request. “Sir,” they said, “we would like to see Jesus.” 22. Philip went to tell Andrew; Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus. 23. Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.
I recall a teaching on this passage that speculated about why Jesus completely ignored the request of the Greeks to see Him. The teacher suggested it was because the Greeks loved knowledge. Perhaps their interest was more curiosity than a matter of true faith. I had an aunt that loved to talk about religion. She would always comment on the beliefs of various religions. This group believed it was wrong to do such-and-such. This group believed that true believers must do such-and-such. I loved my aunt. She was interesting. She was eccentric and reminded me a good deal of the character “Auntie Mame”. She helped me with my studies and taught me how to spell restaurant. But as I think back to my childhood, I am sad that she never told me what she believed. As an adult, I realize it is much easier to talk about religion than to talk about faith. I hope and pray that my words and actions let those who know me see clearly that I believe that Christ died for my sins, that Christ rose, and that Christ will come again.
