Read Mark 1:9-20

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

                                                                                                  Mark 1:17

Recently there has been a great longing in my soul. I have questioned: “Does what I have to offer make any difference?” I thought about the gifts the Lord has given me and how they could be used for his glory. The emptiness still persisted.

One brisk winter morning the radio was set on Spirit FM. The Speaker said, when we come to God we shouldn’t come to him with a list of what we have to offer and say, Ok God you pick which one you want me to do. God’s desire is that we come with our hands empty and ask God to reveal his plan for our life.

When Jesus called Simon (Peter), Andrew, James and John, the bible says “at once they left their nets and followed him.” They didn’t tell Jesus what they had to offer, he already knew. What a great loss if any of these faithful men limited themselves only to what they knew.

I have come to realize, I limit God with my own plans. The longing is here because; God has a more complete plan for my life. So I come with my hands empty and I choose to follow.

Prayer

Father God, help us to let go of our own desires and to seek your perfect plan for our lives.
